Goal: To explore the relationship between family caregivers’ experience and their QoL in diabetic foot.
Diabetic foot is one of the most serious complications of diabetes mellitus. It is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in diabetes (Bruttocao et al. 2010). For their lower extremity function, patients with diabetic foot need a long-term assistance and care in daily living (Raspovic et al. 2014). In China, family caregivers are the most important informal caregivers of people with diabetic foot. They suffered significant burden and decreased quality of life (QoL). For family caregivers, long-term assistance for the patients may be a both demanding and rewarding experience (Lorenza et al. 2014).These experiences may affect the QoL in family caregivers, but the research on caregivers’ QoL and its relevant factors is very scarce. The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between family caregivers’ experience and their QoL in diabetic foot so as to clarify contribution to the development of support programs to improve family caregivers’ QoL.
