I examined the Impact of Education on Actual Weight Gain and on selected pregnancy outcomes in low income women. The literature review indicated that pregnancy is a trigger to obesity during pregnancy and, education made a difference on adherence to the Institute of Medicine Weight Gain recommendations in low income mothers. Use of tools like the pregnancy weight graphs, brochures on nutrition during pregnancy, self monitoring of weights and plotting prenatal visit weights on the graph had a significant effect on blood pressure readings during pregnancy in this population
