Objectif: To measure Nurse Practitioner job satisfation factors in PA to aid in recruitement and retention.
The problem is that there is a shortage of primary care physicians in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania is a largely rural state with many medically underserved populations. The new Patient Affordable Care Act will further increase the number of insured residents and add to the burden of providing quality healthcare throughout Pennsylvania and nationwide. The lack of primary care physicians will most likely affect patient care in the medically underserved areas were poverty and elderly populations are the highest. Nurse Practitioners need to be recruited and retained to care for patients in these medically underserved areas. More Nurse Practitioner recruitment strategies are needed. Nurse Practitioner turnover is costly and affects patient care. There is a limited amount of literature on Nurse Practitioner job satisfaction in Pennsylvania and throughout the United States. More data on Nurse Practitioner job satisfying factors need to be gathered and researched to increase recruitment and retention strategies.
